St. Ronan's Judo Club

St.Ronan's judo club was founded in 2001 by Dave Hammond, nidan. It was originally located in the Village hall at Walkerburn, but relocated shortly after the first Borders Summer School in 2002.

Guest instructors have regularly attended the club to assist with courses and gradings. They included the late Paul Douglass, yodan, Mike Douglass and a number of others.
We have supported judo activities outwith the club too, giving assistance to clubs in Galashields, Peebles and Carlisle, specifically with kata training.

The club was taken over by Stuart Ormison and David Simpson when Dave Hammond moved to Dundee in 2005.

Where are we?

The club is based at St.Ronan's Primary School, Innerleithen.

Club Grading:
St Ronan's held a successful one-day course and grading on 5th March, with over 25 judoka attending from our own club, Dundee Ippon and our friends at Cramlington. Four dan grades were present to give an enjoyable course that was of benefit to all.
A number of new techniques were on display as well different presentations of old ones.
A good mix of seniors and juniors also received promotions, with four new orange belts (4th kyu) being handed out.
